Can I walk with you in Portland?

So the original deal with this blog was to make it something more of a picture blog, full of my pictures of things I experience to work. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find that charger to my crappy camera to make this all work. I may be able to use photos online, of albums I am listening to.. etc. but I feel I can only go so far. If only I had my own camera! so if I have any readers out there, even yet, which I know I don't... well sorry. this blog is in a slow progress. I have experienced quite a bit the past recent weeks... excited for various things and well, shocked by some other. Been to quite a few shows recently, most have been pretty good. Also this week was mid terms. I celebrated it's end by getting some exercise after a week of not doing so and getting a five dollar hot chocolate. it's the best ever, trust me.

annnnnnnway....

I saw the raveonettes last night! It blew my mind! I was just in awe the whole time, the lights the noise... and I haven't listened to much of the new album. But they are not of the best bands I have seen in concert. The doug fir was the perfect place for them to play at too.. not to mention they had two pretty good opening acts- The Upsidedown and the Crocodiles (former members from the plot to blow up the eiffel tower).

Skinny Puppy is hands down, the most interesting and inventive band I will ever see in concert... no band can even compare... even though I may consider other shows better than this one, none are ever so creative. With Orge's wacky outfits, that resembled something between a member of the Klu Klux Klan and a cheesy ghost outfit for halloween. it was just nuts! and the set up of the stage was bizarre as Orge would occasionally sing in a cage on the side, which projected his face (he was still masked) on the backdrop. It sucks what's going on with them and their label, but the album will still be out soon. I was shocked at how short the show was... about 90 minutes, ending at 10:30! Still 100% worth it though..

Nitzer Ebb is coming to Portland and this makes me so very excited. I can easily assume I will be the youngest person there.

Other things musical, I've been listening to....

Liaisons Dangereuses - why did I not know about this album sooner? I don't know.

Photobucket
Brian Eno Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy)

Nurse With Wound Merzbild Schewt

I have also been reading...

Okay, I have only been reading this at the book store when I get a change, it's too expensive! 28 dollors? hmmm? no. We'll see how much I finish before the price goes down and/or a paper back is released.

and I was bound to enjoy this one sooner or later. <3

that's all for now.

will ich ersticken an deinen süssen brüsten

So I have had the most difficult week these past couple of days, as of Tuesday I was really nauseated (no, not nauseous. things make you nauseous) anyway, I just had an awful stomach ache and a bad migraine. I thought I was hungry, low blood sugar or something... but by the near end of the day I was unsure if I was going to make it, I felt like I was going to faint. I did make it to my house after nearly feeling this way all day, I threw myself on my bed in hopes of a just passing out. My heart was just racing too much though, I was stressed because I had a lot of homework to do! anyway, I ended up throwing up. three times. It was brutal and in all seriousness I haven't even remotely figured out why. I have thrown up due to just being motion sick and sleep deprived... and so I guess that's why. I was able to finally get to sleep. I got up and wrote my paper which I am sure is very very crummy, but I needed to turn something in. Thankfully my teacher accepted my paper via email. after that I went to sleep for a long time.

then I woke up at 7:45, feeling a lot better. Ready to indulge myself in these guys:

Yes, KMFDM is awesome. still in fact. Okay yes, they played at a very small venue and have maybe lost some of their edge. but it was still a really good show. It was just bizarre seeing a band like that play at the Wonder Ballroom. It's relatively small. about half the size of the Crystal, and the stage is really really small. Most industrial bands I have seen have a lot of lights/back drop effects/etc to add to their show. thank god no smoke! So yeah, kmfdm didn't really have that... they played a rather short set only ranging from 10:15- 11:45. Playing mostly stuff from their new album Blitz which I am not to fond of, but they did play the title track from their previous album Hau Rock which I loved. Along with Light, Drug Against War, and they ended with the ever perfect song Godlike. It was a good show, the place was only half full. Apparently Sasha refused to play the roseland ever again... although it's hard for me to imagine more and more industrial shows at the wonder, it is a better option... plus... it's closer to me! Biking there is beyond easy. Skinny puppy will play there soon!

Anyway, I was still tired after the show and ended up going to sleep nearly all night instead of studying. So the next day I went to class at 7:20 and got their right about the time class started... every time I sleep too much I get nasty migranes. I am not sure why... but I got one, in which I probably did awful on this quiz. I didn't get ride of my headache until I finally drank some, little, coffee.

anyway, those couple of days were difficult. but I made it and have done a lot of sleeping, actually sleeping and not oversleeping. I also cut off all my hair.

ne var, ne yok: replikas

the replikas are a wonderful group from Turkey, the country of my dreams (and occasionally nightmares ) They were featured in a documentary about the music of Istanbul called crossing the bridge. They sound very much like Fugazi, although very influence my Sonic Youth and other similar bands... as well as a very vibrant influence of native Turkish music. I highly recommend them. As well as this film.

Kalktım bir boş havaya. yürüdüm yol durmadı
Severler hep güzeli, kalbim bomboş kalmadı
Nasıl anlatsam size, aklıma hiç gelmedi
İki evlat, üç torun, bir şerbetten tatmadı
Hayat tek nefes etmez. ölüm alem aldırmaz
Canım bir gülüş etse, ölüm güler hiç susmaz
Nasıl anlatsam size, aklıma hiç gelmedi
Suyumu içemezken, şerbet bizden olmadı

Diamonds, Furcoat, Champagne

things to do today:
read A History of Western Philosophy by Bertrand Russell
read and hopefully finish The Guermantes Way by Marcel Proust
read articles for Bilingual Ed. class
catch up on Spanish Lit. (my teacher was sick last class, so I have to go over all the notes she sent us.)
make Turkish flash cards
do yoga
start of my Spanish composition
and of course, do the tedious assignments for Spanish and Turkish

we'll see if all that happens. Although the first two and the yoga is nothing more than for my personal pleasure, I hope to accomplish this all. I also need to brush my teeth a lot.

Last night I biked all the way to SE to attend Joanne's 'Harvest Party' where I just drank wine and hot cider and watch people carve pumpkins. we ended the night by drink coffee and eating dark chocolate. it was pretty tasty but I strictly avoid much of the coffee out of pure fear that I would not sleep. I biked home and a cop scared me to death by telling me via intercom that I needed a red light. Thanks officer, you almost made me lose focus on my biking, fall over and die.

nostalgia of new york and berlin always make my day, I wish I could be either there or there during this time of year. ahhhh....
